Salar De Uyuni also known
as Heaven on Earth, is located in Southwest Bolivia.
Enigmatic, surprising, unique,
these words describe Uyuni completely. A magical place covered with salt and
silence is one of the world’s most beautiful place on Earth.
It is believed that the Salar was formed when a prehistoric lake
dried up leaving the salty crust behind and since then, whenever it rains it
forms the largest mirror of world. Tourists come here more often during the
rainy season to experience the giant mirror’s reflection formed with salt and
water.
Immensity of this white desert, the shades and twilight awaken
intense sensations that attracts tourists every year. Bollywood must look
into it, as it can be a great location for romantic shoots
This 10,500 sq. km salt plain, located 3600m above sea
level is legendary. It forms beautiful landscapes and here, it is difficult to
distinguish land from sky.

Coming here is like traveling to unexplored world. For the
best climate, plan your visit between July and October. However, for an
increased chance of seeing the reflective surfaces, you should visit between
March and April.
Train Cemetery or Cementerio De Trenes is an
antique train cemetery outside the town and stretches for about 3km. In late
1890’s the route was made to carry minerals from the Andes mountain to the
Pacific Ocean ports. During 1940s the mining industry collapsed and trains were
left rusted, eroded and abandoned outside Uyuni. Many pieces of metal are
stolen as they are not under any observation and not even fenced.
Palacio De Sal (Place of
Salt) is a
hotel located at the edge of Salar De Uyuni, which is entirely built of
salt rock. Floors, walls, ceiling, furniture including beds, chair,
tables & sculptures; everything is made of rock salt which attracts number
of visitors to experience a stay in Salt Hotel.
